WorldTV television and radio channels are transmitted by GlobeCast Earth Stations to the powerful satellite Intelsat 905, which covers the entire European continent and parts of Western Asia. WorldTV is not legally available in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland. Consumers can begin receiving WorldTV programming by simply purchasing the relevant hardware and smartcard from their local dealer. |

FTA ( Free-to-Air) channels are available free of charge to any viewer with the relevant hardware. Encrypted channels require a annual subscription fee in addition to the purchase of the relevant hardware. A SmartCard is a credit card-sized key with an embedded microchip, which allows subscribers to view encrypted programming . When a viewer orders an encrypted program, a SmartCard is "matched" to that viewer's receiver ID. When the correct SmartCard is inserted into the receiver, an authorization is performed via satellite, and the subscriber will be able to view the requested programming. |

WorldTV offers two types of channels: FTA (Free-to-Air) and Encrypted. FTA channels are unscrambled. This means they can be received with a DVB compliant MPEG-2 receiver package. Encrypted channels are scrambled, and usually require a monthly subscription in addition to the home satellite system purchase price. WorldTV offers equipment-subscription packages. |
